Is Your Landscape in Season

 Landscaping

A makeover for your landscape might be well overdue. Will your layout this year resemble one of the beautiful sceneries you may have seen in one of your local parks? Maybe you have been thinking about a design award or a special theme from the East or hardscape from the West. While we are waiting to do so, let’s make sure that we at least have the tools we will need to accomplish our task.

The two most basic tools that come to mind first is a lawn and garden cart or a very sturdy wheelbarrow. The only thing that I can think of that would work much better than that is to have a nice electrical or small motor driven cart with a couple of seats and maybe a covering for shade. We will need to go with whatever is at our disposal for transporting our gardening tools.

But First

Before getting started on our backyard ideas or patio cover, this season’s landscape masterpiece, let’s double-check our tools for wear and tear. It would be a very sad situation to have an amazing design ready to go, but no tools to make it happen. Out with the old ragged stuff and in with the new ready to work utensils.

Working with dirt: bring on the cultivators that you have been wanting to use since last year. Do we have the pointy nose shovel and a gravel rake ready to make the rough ground smooth? What about the other most basic tools for turning the soil and removing debris? Most of the work that is going to take place before seeing this season’s dream come true will be in carving the earth.

Trimming grass and shrubs:  hopefully, last year you remembered to clean your pruners, shears, and trimming tools before you put them away. In addition to proper cleaning and storage, it would be great if oil was applied to any moving parts to prevent rust and freezing. This particular set of tools is largely considered a part of your master gardener craftsman set of tools. These are considered so important because they are used to fix flaws, shape and even reshape the art that you have created in the yard.

Hedges and trees: although electric and gas run trimmers can be found at almost any hardware or gardening shop, having a set of manual trimmers makes it possible to take a more detailed hands-on approach to your design. The neater appearance and quick removal of undesired topiary are a couple of the best advantages of using hand pruners.

Before we wrap up the landscape discussion about the lawn and garden tools that we need to create our masterpiece, there are a few more items that must be covered. It goes without mention that having a lawn without a lawn mower would not make much sense. Throughout the season, one of the main attractions in the yard is a healthy and neat lawn.

Last but not least check all sprinkler system parts. It is important that the sprinkler hoses and connections are checked for leaks that may have resulted from a winter freeze.

Now, go have a lot of fun getting your

Interesting Landscape Designs

Landscape designs are rarely boring unless the designer intentionally meant for it to be and the client requests are being met.  Every year people around the world arm themselves with shovels, hammers, drills and other tools with one mission in mind. That mission is to create a really cool and different look for their lawn and garden.

Many of the nicest designs are also some of the smartest layouts because of how people choose to use decorations that they already have sitting around. Adding patio covers and outdoor music speakers, draping decks with flowers or even adding a touch of jazz and pizzazz to trellises and walkways, are some of the creative things that people are doing.

Outdoor Lighting

If you have been seriously contemplating adding a few touch ups here and there around your yard, keep in mind that it is not as hard as it may seem. You can keep it as simple as adding a few light fixtures along the driveway or walkway as complicated as adding a few bushes and marble statues. Do you have a few thoughts in mind about shapes? Maybe you have been thinking about adding a few new features like a small fancy pond for your fish and turtles.

Your pond doesn’t even have to have water in it. You can lay out rocks and flowers into a combination that gives the impression of a river or even a waterfall. If you are someone who truly appreciates nature, you can find a ton of ideas from a drive in the woods or mountains.

Not only can a lot of inspiration be found for your current project, but it is possible that your quest for ideas will also turn up a few thoughts on how your layout can be next year. With a few twists and turns, next year’s creation may just top this year’s idea. Keeping an open mind throughout this season will also help with the flexibility of your current set up.

There are simply so many different features available for laying out your living space that it would be quite hard to run out of ideas for your landscape designs.  You never know you might win future design awards. Most of the features are very affordable and in many cases can be built using a great deal of supplies that you already have lying around. You may have already come up with a few ideas while reading this article.

In the last year, your mind may have been set on specific shapes such as square, circle or rectangles. This year feel free to live on the edge. Create an oddly shaped entertainment area for family and friends while they are visiting. Feel free to re-purpose a few pallets and tree stumps for seating.

An interesting note about re-purposing pallets is that you can easily make standing gardens for planting delicious grapes, big beautiful red tomatoes or even just simple pretty vines. When positioned correctly and set up with a nice waterscape, pallets can make beautiful waterfalls.

Take a little time and embrace your imagination. You can accomplish a very nice setting by putting a little thought into your landscape designs.

Choosing Pavers In Your Next Landscape Project

When addressing your Landscape needs no doubt there will be sections of the backyard with patio style hardscape.  In the front, hardscape will be used for a driveway, a formal entry to the home, and could be used for a walkway to the backyard.  Always weigh your options, but consider pavers in your next project. A paver driveway A patio can add a tremendous amount of value to your home. Unlike a standard concrete deck, a stone paver style patio can be easy to install and maintain. It’s a great way to add a little bit of outdoor living space, it can add some curb appeal, and set a theme for the overall landscape atmosphere.

If Looking For A Company

1. Experience Is Important

When you’re looking for a company to work with try to find a company with a lot of experience behind their belt.  Usually, they won’t be held back by minor setbacks and they’ll know how to handle a variety of different issues.

You can find feedback from their past customers if they have a proactive website with pictures, referrals, and proper insurance.

2. Value Isn’t Just About Price

When people are calling various companies and asking for estimates, the price is often their primary consideration. However, the company that offers the most value won’t always be the one with the cheapest rates.

Think about what you’re getting for your money. It’s better to pay a little bit more to work with a company that stands by their work. If a company offers a warranty or uses premium materials, it makes sense for them to charge higher rates.

Don’t focus on finding the cheapest possible option. Make sure you really are getting your money’s worth.

3. Look At Their Past Work

The best way to determine whether or not you’ll be happy with a paving company is to look at some of the work they have done in the past. If you like the way their past work looks, there’s a very good chance that you will like the work they do for you.

Don’t just look at photos; try to see how well their work has held up over time. If they have done paving for any public buildings, drive by and take a look at what they did. See if things are still in great condition.

If you follow these three tips, you should be able to find a company that installs pavers that you’ll be pleased with.

Getting some paving work done on your home can be an excellent idea. Whether you add a patio, step stones, or something else, the right company will be able to do a lot for you.

Backyard Ideas Should Promote Enjoyment Of The Space Available

Some backyard ideas are more challenging than others when it comes to landscaping and budget but that doesn’t mean you throw in the towel. When I purchased my first home, I had quite a challenge on my hands. What little landscaping the people had done was horrendous, and the weeds had taken over the entire yard for the most part. It was definitely challenging, I have a green thumb. Do you have a green thumb, too?

Blueprint of a backyard idea

Even if you don’t, you can get the job done. Take a look at your backyard, and try to imagine what you would like to see. Maybe you want to build a patio or a flower bed with stone pavers. Perhaps you need a shed in place for storage and to double as a small workshop. Maybe you’re wanting to put up a fence or create an area for those backyard barbecues.

It could be that when it comes to your yard and backyard ideas, something like a pool is out of the question. That doesn’t mean you can’t make your backyard a personal oasis that you and others can enjoy. Of course, especially if you have a smaller yard, you don’t want to cram or take on too many projects. A yard that looks too busy isn’t going to be relaxing, and it’s certainly not going to up the resale value of your home.

A playground in a backyard

If you have a sizable backyard, yet you’re not making use of the space, it’s time to think about what you would like to do. Patios were mentioned earlier, but decks are quite popular as well. You could start a garden and grow your own produce. You could put up a swing or a play area for the children. You could have an outdoor hot tub installed or a little private gazebo for sitting and relaxing. Backyard ideas are limitless, but you have to compare what you want with the type of space you have.

Sometimes people’s backyards are so small and oddly shaped that they just don’t really know what to do with them. One thing that might help you is if you look at pictures of design ideas. When it comes to landscaping design ideas, there are tons of images online that show what people have done with their backyards.

If your backyard is smaller, you might not be able to do as much, but your yard is also going to require less work. You may not need as much space as you think to have certain things in your backyard. Again, that pool might or might not be out of the question, but there are plenty of other things you can do with your yard.

What do you envision yourself doing most often in your backyard? Are you going to be entertaining people? Perhaps it’s just you, and you plan to relax in the summer sun. My uncle’s yard was so big he built a pond so that he could go fishing. Don’t just start dressing up your yard before you really consider what you want. You want to enjoy your backyard, not just make it look pretty.
